Helped move critical platform infrastructure from an on-premises environment into AWS, standing up networking, Terraform-backed cloud foundations, and GitHub administration paths during a high-pressure incident cutover.

The problem

The client had critical platform infrastructure running in an on-premises environment that needed to move into AWS. The migration was not just a planned infrastructure project. During an incident, the cloud cutover became urgent, and the team needed AWS networking, workload infrastructure, automation, repository administration, and CI/CD paths ready without breaking application delivery.

The approach

I helped stand up the AWS foundation needed for the migration: networking, workload infrastructure, access patterns, and Terraform modules that made the environment repeatable. The work had to support both the planned migration path and the incident response reality of moving a critical platform under pressure.

Terraform handled AWS infrastructure changes that needed to be reviewable. Ansible and PowerShell supported platform automation and migration operations. Windows-focused CI paths stayed in view so the move to AWS did not break delivery workflows while the underlying platform changed.

I also supported the GitHub side of the migration: repository administration, access cleanup, branch protection, and source-control patterns that kept platform changes reviewable while the infrastructure moved. That work is distinct from the pipeline mechanics in GitHub Actions; it was about keeping the collaboration model and access model steady during the AWS move.

The outcome

The critical platform moved into AWS with its delivery paths preserved. The migration gave the platform team a cleaner cloud operating model for future infrastructure changes instead of treating the environment as a manually maintained on-premises system.
